Nearly two years ago, when I told a good friend about my plan to attend law school after having spent eighteen years as a stay-at-home mom, she asked me to share my journey publicly.
"Because," she said, "seeing you do it will help other women feel like they can do it too."
That day, I promised to openly share my story. And so, even when doing so takes me outside of my comfort zone -- whether because I hate selfies, because it's uncomfortable to publicly acknowledge my struggles, or because I don't even know how to share my own successes -- I am committed to chronicling my story because I hope seeing mine will help other people and other families consider how they want to create their own stories.
I already share variations of my name with millions of women and girls in some form -- I've met countless other Kristens, Christas, Kristys, Christinas and other variations throughout my life. I hope my common name makes it easy for you to recognize bits of yourself in me as I share my story as well.
